“We had a lovely birthday celebration weekend and enjoyed very much Hotel Sylvia, the staff, the breakfasts, and the location.”

“I had an amazing time at Hotel Sylvia. I had been wanting to go for many years and was able to make it happed this year, after the new ownership took over. There was concern about it losing its charm – but they did a really wonderful job of making the place feel clean and updated without loosing the quirks and charms of an old building.
My room was wonderful, the fireplace was ideal with the stormy weather. Bed and pillows were really comfortable with multiple places to sit.
I was able to walk to many restaurants and right down to the water. The walk up to the 4th floor of the hotel was my favorite – it holds the library with plethora of places to sit and read, play games, write, or just watch the ocean.
The food in the cafe was wonderful, especially the biscuits. I was there for one of the special dinners on Christmas Eve and it was exceptional.  The only bummer was my trip wasn’t a few days longer.”

We’ve long been a fan of this hotel. Under new ownership, Hotel Sylvia is still our favorite place to stay in Newport. The recent upgrades have modernized the hotel without sacrificing any of its charm. Friendly & accommodating staff, comfortable & spacious rooms, a new cafe menu, and reading nooks throughout the building make Hotel Sylvia the perfect place to call home for a few days while enjoying all that Nye Beach & that part of the Oregon Coast have to offer.

We were lucky enough to book a room here on their reopening day. Amazing views, easy beach access, charming town, attentive service, outstanding cafe (make sure you make your breakfast/brunch reservations when you check in, I’m sure it will fill up quickly once they open it to non-guests), and the refreshed room (we got the Ernest Hemingway) was comfortable and spotless. Great place to stop if you’re working your way down 101 or for an extended stay if you need a base of operations for writing, thinking, or exploring.
